Top 5 Entry Test Preparation Tips

After finishing 2nd year or A levels, you'll have to prepare for the entry test. Although if you didn't study those final 2 years in college, you'd be screwed as entry tests are prepared on the basis of what you studied in those 2 years. Everyone will tell you how difficult entry tests are, but the truth is if you studied properly, properly as in " Developed your concepts " the entry test should be a piece of cake for you. But unfortunately, even this isn't enough as MCQs (Muiltiple Choice Questions) are based on multiple boards (I.e: Sindh Board, A levels, FSc etc) So if you studied Sindh board, that's still not enough because you may have to learn topics from other boards that your syllabus didn't cover. If you studied FSc then you're in luck and will only require revision of what you studied in those 2 years, but if you're in Sindh Board you will have to study extra things from external books like FSc or A levels just to make sure you're fully prepared for whatever comes in the entry tests. Here in this article I will be discussing Top 5 University Entry Test Preparation Tips.

#1 - Join Entry Test classes

The first thing you should do after your college ends is get enlisted in an entry coaching center asap & make sure it's a good one, the teachers there are specialized and will help you revise your course and also teach you how to deal when a MCQ related to that topic arises. The center which I studied in, the teachers there taught us shortcuts on how to deal with a MCQ in order to solve it in seconds and not minutes, as you will have limited time. Remember, it just doesn't depend on your knowledge but also your speed. Also make sure to use their facilities such as library and not be afraid from seeking help from teachers or other students if you're having trouble and also return the favor by teaching them whenever they ask you too. Remember, to learn you have to teach. In that way, your revision will be done as well.

#2 - Revise, Revise & Revise

What's the point of learning further if you will forget what you learnt before. The main key to studying efficiently is revising. As they say " Practice makes perfect " If you won't revise, the hard work you spent on learning that topic earlier will all go to waste hence it's recommended you revise your previous topics and learn new topics at the same time too. When preparing for your entry test, it is recommended that all you do is revise the topics you learnt previously instead of spending time on learning new topics as you have limited time.

#3 - Solve MCQs

After you've done revising or studying a chapter, solve MCQs related to it to see where you go wrong to improve yourself. I recommend buying a ECAT book from nearest book store and solving them or doing MCQs provided by your entry test center or you can just solve them online. This way you will be prepared & also get an idea how the questions will appear in the Entry test.

#4 - Don't be afraid to give Tests

Even if you're not well prepared, make sure to apply for universities, you never know you might pass. Even if you do fail, no worries at least you got experience which will help you in your future entry tests. You probably might be thinking why waste time on getting " experience " when you could just give tests in your center. Giving tests in center is totally different from the entry test you will be giving in University. Why? Because at center, when solving, you're calm because you know if you fail, nothing will happen but when giving the actual university test you will feel a lot nervous & also become pressurized which might effect your performance during the test. Try to stay calm, remember: it's just a piece of paper, even if you fail just apply for another university or apply again next year.

#5 - Stay Motivated

The main key to succeeding is staying motivated. Most students when they open their book and see how hard the MCQs are, they shut the book or skip the topic. E.g: Calculus in Maths if you're an engineering student, you will know what I mean. Nothing is impossible and even if it may seem hard to you, you must at least try because university teachers usually focus on those hard topics. By getting low marks in one subject, you can screw your whole paper up, so make sure to study hard for all subjects equally and even if you fail, keep trying.
